What is the NSEA Legislative Program?
The Program guides NSEA in lobbying the Nevada Legislature, State Board of Education, and other relevant Boards and Committees, presenting the views of the membership to state agencies, and working with like-minded organizations to achieve the Association’s pro-public education legislative goals.
What Does the NEA Legislative Program Address?
NSEA works to fulfill the promise of a democratic society by promoting the cause of quality public education; advancing the education profession; expanding the rights and furthering the interests of education employees; and advocating human, civil, and economic rights for all. The Program is organized into four sections:
- High-Quality Public Education — Legislative issues designed to address the many factors that impact the quality of public education directly in the classroom or school
- Supporting Student Success — Legislative issues intended to create the best possible conditions for all children in support of both their development and education
- A Voice in the Workplace — Legislative issues linked directly to some of the most basic employee issues faced by all education employees
- Good Public Policy — Legislative issues related to ongoing concerns of statewide importance to both NSEA members and other community organizations
How the NSEA Legislative Program Is Crafted and Amended
The NSEA Legislative Program represents the collective decisions of the Association’s members throughout the state. The NSEA Board of Directors seeks and receives input from a broad spectrum of the membership throughout the year.
