Memo: NSEA Supports SB119 (2017)

NSEA supports SB 119, as volunteers should have the same safeguards from civil liability that other members of School Organizing Teams enjoy.

NSEA members in Clark County, both education support professionals and teachers, have been working alongside administrators, parents, students, and community members to building School Organization Teams.

NSEA appreciates that giving real school site decision-making to those most closely involved with students, on items like school budgets and programming, will empower school communities to improve school climate and culture and deliver better overall education to students.

However, barriers to participation threaten the success of School Organizing Teams and need to be mitigated wherever possible
