NSEA supports AB 136 to expand prevailing wage provisions, including requiring full payment of prevailing wages on construction projects by school districts and NSHE.
NSEA sees AB 136 through the lens of fairness and improving wages and working conditions for everyone in and around school communities. Requiring contractors on public works projects to pay living wages to their workers is an investment in families and communities. When we lift the standard of living of families in our communities, everyone benefits. AB 136 also will help ensure that school construction projects are completed on-time and without defect. This will be a benefit to our educators and school communities.
