Memo: NSEA Supports Assembly Bill 123

NSEA supports Assembly Bill 123, requiring information about student immunizations to be provided to health officials.
Published: February 19, 2019

The Nevada State Education Association represents teachers and education support professionals across the state. We believe that every Nevada student deserves a high-quality public education.

NSEA supports Assembly Bill 123, requiring information about student immunizations to be provided to health officials.

AB123, requiring certain information about student immunizations be transferred to health officials, could prove critical in containing an outbreak of a diseases prevented by those immunizations. This mechanism could limit the risk to students and educators at school sites.

NSEA appreciates the sensitivity of this issue and believes that AB123 strikes the right balance between religious freedom, confidentiality of health information, and protection of public health.
