Memo: NSEA Supports AB78 (2017)

NSEA supports AB 78 revising provisions relating to the establishment of charter schools.

AB 78 will facilitate communication between school districts and charter schools to allow for better planning of resources by a school district in anticipation of the opening of a charter school. Information related to population growth, demographic changes, and the academic needs of students in the geographic area to be served by the proposed charter school are essential to smart planning. We believe that this is necessary in order to ensure fair access for all students to public school options.
