Memo: NSEA Support SB89 (2017)

The Nevada State Education Association, representing 40,000 teachers and education support professionals across Nevada, believes that every Nevada student deserves a quality public education. In order to provide for this, our public education system needs to be well funded, in both good economic times and bad.

To this end, NSEA supports SB 89, creating the K-12 Public Education Stabilization Account.

NSEA is acutely aware of the negative impacts on public education during the recent economic crisis. With unprecedented cuts to education funding, our members faced layoffs, ballooning class sizes, and cuts in programs. In future downturns, the Stabilization Account will help to prevent these draconian cuts to public education.
