Every day, educators encounter students consumed by stress and anxiety about what the future holds—for themselves and their families. More than 18 million children under age 18 have a parent born outside the United States—and nearly 40 percent of them live in households where neither parent is a U.S. citizen.

Dreamers, DACA recipients, individuals with temporary protected status, and other immigrants play a vital role in our economy and everyday lives.

We need an immigration system that is humane, functional, and just. NEA supports broad, inclusive legislation with multiple pathways to citizenship that prioritize keeping families together.
