Time For 20 Invest in Educators
With an unprecedented shortage of educators to teach our kids and make our schools run, Time For 20 means a 20% increase in educator pay and at least $20/hour for the workers who make our schools run. With some of the largest class sizes in the country, Time for 20 means reaching an average class size of 20 students.
Time For 20 means addressing our education crisis in Nevada by investing in our educators. We cannot expect Massachusetts results while spending Mississippi money.

The good news is that resources are available right now! Late in 2022, we learned the state has over $1B in surplus revenue this year, and in November of 2022, the Economic Forum estimates the budget for next biennium will be $2.3B greater than this biennium. Much of this surplus should be directed to the Education Fund. There are also strong recommendations for additional state revenue from the Commission on School Funding, including closing property tax loopholes and expanding the base on the sales tax. These revenue sources have the capacity to adequately fund education in Nevada. Now it’s up to the Governor and Legislature.

RAINY DAY IN NEVADA POSTS
It's a rainy day in Nevada! Let's fund #TimeFor20 to respect and retain our educators. We don't need $3B in rainy day reserves. We need those funds in our classrooms for our kids! #NVLeg
-Historic Vacancies
-Low Wages
- Overcrowded Classrooms
And the #NVLeg and @JosephMLombardo want to stash away nearly $3 billion into Rainy Day accounts? It's a rainy day now! Let's fund #TimeFor20 to respect and retain our educators.
Dear #NVLeg
We implore you to redirect monies from rainy day reserves to fund Time for 20—a 20% raise for every Nevada educators, starting pay of $20/hour, and average class sizes of 20 students. It’s a rainy day for Nevada schools. #Timefor20
TIME FOR 20 POSTS
I support implementing the recommendations made by the Commission on School Funding. The amount recommended will support the needs of #TimeFor20 which calls for a 20% salary increase, $20/hour for the workers who make our schools run, and average class sizes of 20 students.
It's Time for 20! As we head into the next #NVLeg Session, take a few minutes to read about why it’s #TimeFor20 in Nevada: https://www.nsea-nv.org/TimeFor20
We need bold action and #TimeFor20 is that action! It's time for a 20% salary increase for educators. It's time for at least $20/hour for the workers who make our schools run. It's time for average class sizes of 20 students. @JosephMLombardo @Nicole4Nevada @SteveYeagerNV
In a report released last month, bit.ly/3G6Neef, the Funding Commission updated a previous study on optimal funding. Over the next 10 years, they recommend an additional $3,384,563,122/year by 2033! That’s why we’re saying it’s #TimeFor20
We talk a lot about Nevada’s record educator shortage, but what we really have is a shortage of those willing to work for 23.5% less than their college-educated counterparts. It's #TimeFor20 @JosephMLombardo, @Nicole4Nevada, and @SteveYeagerNV
NOW WHAT?
While the Governor’s proposed budget would increase education funding, when compared against optimal funding or even the national average, Nevada still falls short. $3700-$4700 per-pupil short. #NowWhat #NVLeg
The Funding Commission was asked to recommend increases to K12 over 10 years. Governor Lombardo's budget proposal impacts these recommendations. Instead of $3.4B, Nevada will need an additional $2.6B/year by FY33. Some progress, but a ways to go! #NVLeg #NowWhat
