Put room tax question on the ballot
NSEA, in conjunction with leaders of the gaming community, is proposing a ballot advisory question for an increase in the hotel room tax to benefit K-12 public education.
The next step is for county commissioners in Washoe and Clark Counties to agree to put the advisory question on the ballot in the upcoming election.
These county commissioners need to hear from you. Please contact the elected leaders and urge them to place this question on the ballot so voters will have an opportunity to voice their opinion. We encourage you to use the sample message below in crafting your message.
Our unified action will ensure this important measure is placed on the ballot in November.

The proposed Ballot Advisory Question to increase the hotel room tax is the product of an agreement between concerned leaders of the gaming industry and Nevada’s educators. We are asking the County Commissions in Clark and Washoe to merely place this on the ballot so voters will have an opportunity to voice their opinion. I urge you to respect our wishes and support placing the question on the ballot!
